I am a Cambodian American an excellent Tax Practitioner here in Houston, Texas; since 1991’s. I run and own my Accounting Firm since 1991’s.
After reading several of your Web Sites; I’m very interested in purchasing a vacation home in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I plan to go back there this coming late October, 2009. Prior to my arrival, please providing me some basic question as in the followings:
1) When and where can I go through the purchasing process?
2) Am I elegible to purchase home or villa in CamKo City?
3) What is the advantage and disadvantage of owning a home in CamKo?
4) Can you send me a brochure from that new City in Phnom Penh and available
models or picture of villa in that place for more observation?
5) Whom can I contact via phone, mail or E-mail about the purchase?
6) Can you give me some information probably will get a great price from
your current customer(s) who is having difficulty in meeting their financial
payment or who want to sell their home for any reason?
7) And when your second phase will be started?
Your given insigh information and answering some of the above questions via responding to this E-mail, would be highly appreciated.

sorry, but this image is wrong. by the time this project will be finished, there will be no lake left. take a look at the western civilisation. big coorporations and skyscrapers dont mean success and happiness for everybody. the gap between the poor and the rich will be greater than before. capitalism will destroy the people. this is no project for the community of the cambodians but the government´s plan to gain more money with the help of foreign companies.
Your ass, you are just like your name an ass. These building projects will provide jobs for the construction workers and material suppliers at local level at the moment and when they are done, they will serve as the economic center for Cambodia to do business with professional environment. You obviously know nothing but always spit your pessimistic diarrhea at anything you don’t know. Maybe you are just another one of those cynical CPP haters that don’t want to see Cambodia prosper. I got something to tell you, go f*@k yourself, buddy. You can be that negative nancy pansy that you are all you want, the reality of prosperous Cambodia will kick your sorry ass eventually.
First, I would like to say that we have finally gotten to where we need to be in this century. We should reflect on what other countries have started to see who we are as Khmer, this cannot be done without the “Intranet”. It would be a challenge for our neighboring countries to continue with any claimed that what they have today are truly theirs.
Now, The Mystical Khmer culture has been shown to the world with the Legacy of Angkor Wat; and the myth becomes a new history. It has been said that Japanese will come to the rescue, however, it was not Japanese, it was the Korean. Please note that it was the Korean who introduced the writing and others to Japanese that put them to where they are today.
So, we need to be positive that will bring hopes to our land; the land that rules the Southeast Asia for 600 years. I would encourage “Your Ass” to spend time in Shanghai and learn the rapid growth at that place and to where they are today.
“Your Ass”, this is an imazing opportunity for us. Under the Decade Theory, we should be ready to take any opporunity that come to us in 2020. China had their share between 2001 to 2010. Now, it is starting to sheft from China to Vietnam. If Camko City can be done sooner, we might be able to take those opportunity away from the Vietnamese. So, please be positive and have hope… This is an imazing for opportunity for Khmer in the near future. I’m a surivor from the Khmer Roug Regime.
The marketing images of Camko City are very compelling. Along with many of you, I am hopeful that this project will bring a much need lift to a country that is digging itself out of decades of darkness. If this development proves to be successful, expect future developments to be built along the many miles of newly paved roads in Cambodia. As an urban designer however, I have to take a step back and question some of the design moves in the project.
First, by looking at the pictures, it is impossible to tell where this project belongs. Aside from it being more modern in nature and divorced from the French post-colonial vernacular of the capital, this project seems to make as much sense if it was done anywhere else on the planet. It seems to be a horribly prepackaged scheme that had been saved for years and was conveniently put on the table when a country like Cambodia came along and agreed to it. Perhaps separating the image of this new miniature global city from the rest of the country was done intentionally, but as the country’s first major urban design project, the marketing images and the explanations that goes along with could have made a better connection to what’s around it. I have to wonder what exactly is around this development. It’s only 3km outside the heart of the PP, so shouldn’t there be more than just greenery. Aren’t there other existing developments? Lazy architecture firms have a tendency to do this, to provide a project without any context and fade everything else around it out.
Second, the scheme comes into question. (It looks like a smaller version of the development proposal for Dubai.) I don’t understand why certain programs are where they are. The most prominent building is the government building in the lake, perhaps situated in a restricted location for security or as an iconic symbolism of government power, but to me, this is the most fascinating location and could be used more as a destination to attract visitors and tourists. Because the image shows no context, I have to wonder why condo towers surround tiny villas. If the aim is to make a dense center, and support the downtown retail by the water, it would make more sense cluster them towards the center as opposed to sprawling them towards the edges. Who (other than Dr. Austin from Houston, Texas) wants to live in a small villa surround by towers?
My main concern is this development, by aiming to bring Cambodia to a new age, may be repeating mistakes from the past seen in other parts of the western world and other developing countries. Just look at the plan. A HIGHWAY RUNS THROUGH IT!!! Anyone familiar with the Collier-Burns act in California of the 1940s or the Federal Highway Act of the 1950s knows the history of cities horrible consumed by the automobile which creates unforgiving if not irreversible atmospheres. Where there should instead be pedestrians and cyclists as you would find in the capital, this development proposes “four to six lanes” of traffic running through its center. Add that to the intersecting canal that furthers divides the scheme, we now have…a sprawl development within what initially appears to be a dense urban setting.
I heard CamKo city is a Imagination World only. I would buy the house rarely than buy apartment. so expensive and live in like a house. they re facing finacial problem. do you think you have a better choice?buy a house a better.
I think you should find the best place for you family, rather than apartment.
To all admirer and hater, whatever you think about CamKo City and the developement in our country, your opinion count. I, myself find it very interesting of all the amazing things that is happening going on in Cambodia right now and in the future. With a lots of foreign investment pouring in and building is going up right and left. 20 to 25 years from now, when I’m retiring, I will purchase a vacation home there. The best place to call home is called the Grand Phnom Penh International City, which is in the suburb, 20 minutes drive away from the center of Phnom Penh. The future is bright for all Cambodian.
A few years ago I tried to buy property there.
Impossible to get clear title, Pol Pot destroyed the records.
I suppose these Koreans have Han Sen in their pocket but it will go the way of all overly adventurous developments.
